• Stacy Scates, M.A. LMFT

Hello, I'm Stacy, a licensed marriage and family therapist, yoga instructor and sound therapist. I believe that our body, mind and spirit are inextricably linked. As our bodies and mind change over time, so does our self-image. Through repeated interactions with the outside world, we are shaped personally, professionally, and relationally with our loved ones. When we feel seen and cared for by others, it fosters a sense of ease and a more positive self-image, ultimately leading to improved health and deeper intimacy.

My practice emphasizes the importance of our relationship with nature, I actively promote and teach Ayurvedic principles, which encourage a dynamic connection with the five elements - Ether (space), air, fire, water, and earth. For thousands of years, this connection has proven to be the most sustainable and accessible pathway to achieving and maintaining physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. In our fast-paced modern lives, it's crucial to re-establish harmony with nature to combat feelings of overwhelm, disease, and a distorted sense of self. My therapeutic approach encompasses talk therapy, tailored yoga sessions, breathwork, Ayurvedic lifestyle education, Marma therapy (a form of bodywork utilizing skillful touch of specific energy points for relaxation and clarity of mind) and sound therapy.

At the core of my philosophy is the belief that we are all seeking connection, deeper intimacy, and joy. Through body-centered awareness, our work together can help you to explore and understand your sensations, emotions, thoughts and actions so that you can have more authentic experiences of connection, intimacy, and joy.

I work with individuals, couples and families with the following issues: Anxiety, depression, grief, loss, and intimacy. In my practice, I prioritize play and pleasure over perfection and precision. Embracing these principles allows us to establish a positive relationship with both our bodies, and the natural world.

If you're eager to explore a journey towards improved intimacy and a healthier connection with your body and nature, I invite you to reach out for a session. To schedule, please use the link below. If you encounter any issues, feel free to contact me directly at Stacyscates@gmail.com.

I look forward to embarking on this transformative journey with you!

Psychotherapy

All of our experiences happen in our bodies–including trauma, loss, joy, and pleasure. As a  Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Yoga Instructor I integrate depth psychotherapy with the eastern philosophies of Yoga and Ayurveda to offer a holistic and collaborative approach to therapy. The bulk of our work together is centered around how you experience life through your body.

In the body

When supported by an empathetic witness our bodies are able to remember, how to be well. Sometimes the best pathway to healing is directly through breath-work, body awareness, movement or touch. My experience with Yoga, Ayurveda and body work practices such as Marma (hidden vital energy) therapy may be the best approach for your healing.

Transitions

Death is inevitable and yet many of us avoid it until the last minute. It can be difficult to talk about death and dying so I help families, couples and individuals have those difficult conversations. Do you know what your loved ones wishes are? Do you know how to start the conversation? I want to help both the dying person and their family members have conver-sations about death and dying.
